Team Functions are Vital to Success

Having a team dinner before every football game, or an end of the year pool party at the end of softball season are two examples of team functions. They are important because all of the coaches and players can relax in a stress free environment and just be themselves. Team functions are great place to build relationships with your players and their parents. It is an environment where everyone can just let their hair down and relax.

Here are some examples of team functions that you may try out with your team:

  • End of year party
  • Team dinner on game days
  • BBQ at a local park
  • Pool party at coach's house
  • Friendly parent/player game of softball
  • Bowling
  • See a movie

All of these activities are great ways for your players to bond with one another which ultimately leads to success on the field. Players will put in more effort if they don't want to let down people they have strong relationships with as opposed to teammates that they barely even know.

  1. This is a very smart topic to write about. There is nothing more important for a team than unity. You want your team to get along better than any other team in the world. It is important to have many functions throughout the years to bring the team together. It gives every player a chance to relax and get to know one another. This, believe it or not, can be the difference between a good team and a great team.

  2. This is a very good topic to write about. Not many people know how important team bondage is outside of actually playing the sport. There is nothing more important than for a team to communicate well. A team that all players get along very well in and a team that the players just play in because they have to, is totally different. When a team does a fun activity, it gives them a chance to get to know one another more deeply. This creates trust on and off the field. This is what makes a great team.

  3. I 100% agree with you on the importance of team functions. Just being in a different environment to the field will put players in a completely different mindset. Players form bonds on and off the field. Sometimes those bonds formed off the field show on it to. Putting a team in a differently will allow them to communicate differently and about different things. Sometimes its the small things that lift you and matter the most.

  4. This is a really good post, sometimes off the field communication is overlooked and you hit the nail on the head! You had some really good suggestions for functions that the team can participate in. Communication in sports is vital, and what some people dont think about is their communication in every day life, when their off the field. That is a very important part of a team, and you had some great suggestions.
